Artificial Intelligence Could Reinvent the Wheel
Authored by – Adrian S.W. Tam, Ph.D., Director – Data Science
The truth is, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) – an application of AI -- are extremely useful tools in their current forms. But they are not yet precisely where we would like them to be as all-knowing, all-solving technologies. They have room to grow and will no doubt expand into solving for future problems that we could not have ever imagined today.
Customization Must Persist
AI and ML are today being utilized in truly wonderful and innovative ways. But they cannot be applied everywhere and for everything under the promise of “mass customization”. Rather, to be the most useful and valuable, AI and ML must be customized from use to use and from user to user to effectively derive the specific benefits desired. Deployed for one enterprise, AI and ML must be fully customized to meet the individual needs, systems, datasets, processes and desired outcomes for another enterprise. A one-size-fits-all approach simply does not work.
