Singapore InSync Recap Blog
After InSync London, it was time for InSync Singapore, hosted at the coveted Arts House on Thursday, June 6, 2019.
InSync Singapore saw the presence of some great thought leaders and specialists from big brands like Google, Standard Chartered Bank and more. They spoke in length about Digital Transformation, and were followed by an interactive panel discussion and a fun networking session with drinks and canapés.
The session was kicked off by Synechron’s Head of APAC, Mihir Shah, who hosted a brief session about Synechron’s new Accelerators - AI Data Science and Wealth Tech Accelerators, and also shared the agenda further for the day. Soon after, the stage was taken over by Synechron’s Head of Blockchain, Tim Coates. Tim threw some light on Synechron’s vision behind Accelerating Digital and how are we planning for the future of Digital Ecosystems.
With this, the keynote speaker of the day, Amith Rajan, Head Mobile and Emerging Technology, Global Banking and Corporate Finance Technology at Standard Chartered Bank, took centre stage. To engage the audience and make his thoughts more relatable, Amith gave us all a quick look at how digital transformation is ingrained in our day-to-day lives. Along with the technicalities, Amith also focused on the details of a business model. Concluding his session, Amith also provided some practical tips to enable us to continue innovating with a methodical approach.
After the keynote address, everybody welcomed Duncan Foster, Financial Services Lead at Google Singapore along with Dr Allen Day, Developer Advocate at Google Singapore. Their session started with Duncan’s brief introduction about Google’s cloud services and upcoming technologies. He also highlighted that the most common problem faced by the industry is the migration of massive data and how their technology is focusing on this issue. Giving his views a more practical take, Dr Allen Day gave a live demo showcasing how blockchain can be made usable for the people and also how Google streams analytics on Blockchain data.
Making the session more interactive, it was then time for the panel discussion, moderated by Tim Coates, Head of Blockchain, US. This highly informative discussion included insights from our speakers and special guests Nynke Postma, founder of a KYC start-up for ING Labs in Singapore, and Dhruv Arora, Founder, and CEO of Syfe. The panelists discussed topics such as the future of AI in the fintech industry, and how start-ups have excelled in the industry with the help of blockchain and AI.
Concluding the evening, it was then time for our guests to relax and enjoy networking with their industry peers, as we moved to Privé ACM for drinks and canapés. Throughout the evening live demo stations helped people experience Synechron’s latest accelerators and solutions. Yet again, InSync proved to be a highly engaging session that gave an industry-wide exposure to the attendees.
