The Challenge

Our client firm had recently inherited new developers through a company acquisition. Our client sought to quickly and efficiently onboard the new developers, but they had a new set of tooling requirements than the existing developers. Specifically, they need to do some container development.

The Solution

Synechron's solution was to first determine that the existing AWS workspaces provided would not suffice for the recent additions. We developed Gitlab pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, Python and some bash scripting to create a new custom image with the software required. This also included required cybersecurity tools/applications. Our solution was a rollout of Ubuntu Virtual Desktop workspaces on Amazon which come preloaded with the most common developer software. These were designed to provide a secure desktop environment for developers.

Reduced time to deliver developer workstation from days to minutes

Ability to apply updates to workspace image reduced by 5x

Elimination of software costs due to adoption of open source components

Synechron followed an agile process that prioritised specific journeys to release to market according to customer and business needs.

Kick off

Synechron framed an agile scope with the bank that allowed for the prioritization and flexibility of requirements to be adjusted based on customer and business needs through a managed services delivery model.

Agile Design & Development

The program utilize the agile delivery model over a 9 month cycle, with 3 key releases to bring the journeys to market.

Discovery phase

A Discovery phase was undertaken to shape the product strategy per proposition, and to create an experience concept to validate the target customer journey.

Ongoing Development & Support

To date, Synechron continues to support the bank in production support and continuous improvement to optimise the customer experiences.
